Queen Mary University of London(伦敦玛丽女王大学)entry requirements for Chinese students (2027) — minimum average mark, university list tiers and programme extras

Queen Mary University of London (伦敦玛丽女王大学), ranked 103 in the QS World University Rankings 2027, sets your 2027 taught-master's minimum average mark from two things: the UK degree class your programme asks for, and the tier of the Chinese institution that awarded your bachelor's degree. A given UK degree class requires a lower Chinese weighted average from a Tier 1 institution than from a Tier 2 institution.

Minimum average mark by UK degree class and tier

For courses starting in autumn 2027 and spring 2028, QMUL uses two institution tiers. The marks below are Chinese weighted-average percentages.

UK degree class Tier 1 minimum Tier 2 minimum
UK First Class (70%+) 80 85
UK Mid 2:1 / Upper Second (65%+) 75 80
UK 2:1 standard / Upper Second (60%+) 70 75
UK Mid 2:2 / Lower Second (55%+) 67.5 72.5
UK 2:2 standard / Lower Second (50%+) 65 70

For courses starting in spring 2027, QMUL uses three tiers.

UK degree class Tier 1 Tier 2 Tier 3
Upper Second (60%+) 68.75 75 80
Good/High Lower Second (57.5%+) 68.75 73.75 78.75
Good/High Lower Second (55%+) 67.5 72.5 77.5
UK 2:2 standard / Lower Second (50%+) 65 70 75

QMUL notes that a small number of schools may consider applicants case by case if they have five or more years of relevant professional experience.

How the university list tiers work

QMUL groups recognised Chinese institutions into tiers. The tier decides how many percentage points you need for the same UK class. For spring 2027 there is also a Tier 3, which asks for the highest marks of the three.

The material used here names institutions by tier, but it is an excerpt and is not the complete register. The full, authoritative tier list is published on QMUL's own pages, which take precedence. Always confirm your institution's tier there before you apply.

Examples the material places in Tier 1 for autumn 2027 and spring 2028 include Tsinghua University, Peking University, Fudan University, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Zhejiang University, Nanjing University, Wuhan University, Sun Yat-sen University, Xi'an Jiaotong University, Harbin Institute of Technology, Beihang University, Beijing Normal University and Renmin University of China.

Examples the material places in Tier 2 include Shenzhen University, Jiangsu University, Zhejiang University of Technology, Qingdao University, Yangzhou University, Nanjing Tech University, Guangdong University of Technology, University of Shanghai for Science and Technology, Shandong Normal University and Zhejiang Normal University.

QMUL does not publish a count of how many institutions sit in each tier, and you should not assume a university's tier from its name.

Programme-specific and background-specific extras

The material does not list per-programme requirements such as GMAT, portfolio or interview for taught master's. For those, check the university's own pages, which take precedence.

Some background rules from the material do apply to Chinese bachelor's holders:

Offers and study modes QMUL limits

The application system does not technically cap how many programmes you apply to, but QMUL will issue at most two offers for the same intake. LLM (law) courses are limited to one offer. Admissions will ask which programme you most want and may withdraw extra applications, so apply to only a few programmes. If you hold two offers and accept one, the other is cancelled automatically.

For undergraduate transfers, Business Management, Computer Science and Medicine-related programmes do not accept Year 2 entry; other schools assess Year 2 entry case by case (the School of Economics and Finance considers only UK undergraduate Year 2 entry). The material does not detail master's-level study modes QMUL declines to accept, so check the university's own pages, which take precedence.

Where to verify each figure

Every mark, tier and rule above comes from QMUL's published China entry requirements. Confirm your own institution's tier and your programme's required UK degree class on the official page before you apply, because QMUL's lists update and the official pages take precedence.
