University of Glasgow(格拉斯哥大学)entry requirements for Chinese students (2027) — minimum average mark, university list tiers and programme extras

For a Chinese bachelor's degree holder applying to a taught master's at the University of Glasgow(格拉斯哥大学)for 2027 entry, the number that matters is a percentage average mark, not a converted Chinese GPA. The university sorts accepted Chinese institutions into three bands and links each band to the UK degree class a programme asks for. For a Band A institution, a programme listed at a UK 2:1 needs a 75% average; a programme listed at a UK 2:2 needs 70%.

What the bands ask for

Every entry on the accepted Chinese university list carries two thresholds and a band letter. The thresholds follow the band, and the band follows the institution, so the same programme can ask for different averages from two applicants whose degrees come from different universities.

Band Required for a 2:1 programme Required for a 2:2 programme
Band A 75% 70%
Band B 80% 75%
Band C 85% 80%

Being on the list fixes the band and the mark; it does not by itself produce an offer. The university also states that its published information is for reference and that final decisions rest with its admissions office. Treat the table as the general mapping, not as a decision on your file.

How the university list works

The 2027 accepted Chinese university list gives each institution in English and in Chinese, then the mark required for a 2:1 programme, the mark required for a 2:2 programme, and the band (A, B or C). The published list places, for example, Fudan University, Beijing Normal University and Central University of Finance and Economics in Band A. This article does not reproduce the whole list, and it does not count how many institutions sit in each band; the version on the university's own pages takes precedence, so check your own institution there rather than relying on a summary.

If your bachelor's degree was taught overseas

Overseas bachelor's backgrounds are accepted. Bachelor's degrees awarded by recognised overseas institutions are accepted, including degrees obtained through Top-up, "2+2", "3+1" and "4+0" routes. Some master's programmes also require specific core subjects in your undergraduate study, and those have to appear on your transcript. Applicants with an overseas bachelor's degree are directed to check requirements on the university's international pages (www.gla.ac.uk/international/), and the individual programme page takes precedence.

English language requirements and exemptions

An applicant may be exempt from submitting an English language test score, and the exemption is valid for six years from the date of graduation. The published conditions cover more than one situation. One is completing at least two years of full-time undergraduate study and obtaining the degree in a country where English is a native language as defined by UK Visas and Immigration; that UKVI list includes Canadian institutions that teach in English, and it can be checked at www.gov.uk/student-visa/knowledge-of-english. Another is completing at least nine months of full-time master's study and obtaining the degree. The policy also refers to "2+2" and "3+1" overseas articulation routes. Where the exact wording of an exemption matters for your case, read the university's own English language pages, which take precedence.

Programme-specific extras

Subject expectations sit at programme level: some master's courses require particular core subjects, and these are visible on your transcript. Other extras that some programmes use, such as an admissions test like the GMAT, a portfolio, or an interview, are not set out in the material behind this article, and this article does not assert which programmes ask for them. Whether a given course requires any of these is stated on that course's own page; check the university's own pages, which take precedence.

Study modes

The material behind this article does not state which study modes the university accepts or excludes for taught master's entry — for example, whether part-time, distance or online routes are open to an applicant from the Chinese system. Check the university's own pages, which take precedence.

Where to confirm your own figures

Use the university's own pages as the final word, in this order. First, the taught master's programme page for your course, which sets the degree class and any programme-level extras: https://www.gla.ac.uk/postgraduate/taught/. Second, the accepted Chinese university list, for the band and the mark attached to your institution. Third, the international pages for an overseas bachelor's background, and the English language pages for exemptions. A figure quoted anywhere else, including here, is only as current as the page it came from.
